Favorite Party Tips

So you’re planning a party-now what?! Don’t worry we’ve got you covered with a few of our favorite tips and tricks to make your event one to remember!

1. Pick a theme. This can seem obvious but it doesn’t need to necessarily be an overtly in your face theme-it can be as simple as “dining al fresco,” or as detailed as a specific character/movie/book party. A theme helps to guide you and your guests in what to wear, bring, and expect! It also helps narrow the focus for things such as decor and menu!

2. Prep, prep, & more prep! Do what you can beforehand to make the party flow. Pre-plan things like food and a playlist so you aren’t left fumbling last minute. Gina loves to make sure she can pre-chop, slice, and prep any food she can the morning of or day before to cut down on time the day-of. Prepare your home by doing a little extra cleaning leading up to the big day. One of Jules’ favorite tips is to run your dishwasher prior to party time so that it’s empty and ready to go when your event is over-nothing worse than a sink full of dishes and a full dishwasher to boot! A little prep can go a long way and your guests will notice the difference!

3. It’s all in the details. A few sweet touches can make the party special, focus on things like sight, smell, sounds, etc. Jules & Gina are both big fans of grocery store flowers. Trader Joes usually has a variety of in-season, affordable options that can really transform a table! Refer back to step two on this one-prep those flowers in advance and keep them somewhere cool so all you have to do is pull them out on the big day! Another thing we love to do to make our parties stand out? Party playlists! If you aren’t someone with a big musical offering enlist a friend or family member that does enjoy this. The right music can really set the vibe for the experience. Set the lighting prior to guests arrival, good lighting isn’t too harsh, but isn’t too low either. Lastly-light a mild smelling candle. Anything overpowering can take away from food and be a distraction to guests sensitive to smells. All of these little touches can transform your guests experience and really set your hosting abilities apart!

4. Have FUN! Try not to focus too much on all the “little stuff,” because at the end of the day the point of a party is to have fun and enjoy the company of friends and family. If you follow our simple tips above you are sure to have a party that will be memorable and enjoyable!
